ART OF WATER IV:           

An exhibition celebrating our most vital resource


Water is the most crucial resource for life. James May Gallery is seeking all mediums of work to be included in an exhibition focusing on water. The work could be about serious topics such as water conservation and protection, but it could also be about the simple beauty of water. There is something about water that attracts and fascinates us. It is our hope that by celebrating the beauty and necessity of water in all our lives that we can better protect it.





Any medium welcome- video, sound, music, visual arts (2-D/3-D), performance, or any other proposed medium.



Must be original and created within the last 3 years. Applicants must be 18+. 


Image Requirements:

Please send 3 high-quality jpg images of your work (if applicable) along with an artist statement and resume to If you would also like to include a brief statement concerning water that is separate from your statement, that would also be welcome and could be used alongside your work in the show.


Submission Process:

This exhibition is meant to be inclusive but do to the popularity and the number of entrants we can not guarantee everyone's participation. We will do our best to include a piece from everyone but due to limited space some entrants may not get in. The gallery will notify all artists which of their pieces will be included on March 30. 


Submission Fee:

$25 submission fee paid via our website (pay below): to help cover costs of the Art of Water. You can enter up to 3 pieces. Please send 3 high- quality jpg images of your work along with details if needed. All work juried into the show this year will be shown in James May Gallery.  


Important Dates:

Entries due by: March 20


Notification: April 1


Artwork must be shipped to the gallery between April 13 -18


Hand delivered artwork should arrive: Thursday April 16 3-7pm, Friday April 17 12-5, Saturday April 18 10-5


Opening Reception: Saturday, May 2 from 5:30-8:00


Exhibition will run May 2nd - May 30th


Pick up work: May 30 10-5, May 31 10-2


Ship back work: June 3-7


*Artists are responsible for all costs associated with delivery and pick up of work. If work is not picked up or arrangements made by June 3 the art work becomes property of James May Gallery. 


*The Art of Water is meant to be a community wide arts event to increase awareness and create dialog about water. This year all work that gets into the show will be hung at James May Gallery.

*All artwork will be insured during the length of the exhibition.
